Eric Dane is an American actor best known for his roles as
Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and Cal Jacobs on HBO’s Euphoria. Born on
November 9, 1972, in San Francisco, California, he began his acting career in
the early 1990s with appearances on television series such as Saved by the
Bell, The Wonder Years, and Charmed. His breakout role came in 2006 when he
joined Grey’s Anatomy, earning the nickname “McSteamy” for his portrayal of the
charismatic plastic surgeon. Following this, he starred in TNT’s action-drama
The Last Ship and has been a central figure in Euphoria since 2019.
